The Seventh World Science Forum is underway in Budapest with more than 900 participants from over 100 countries, including an Iranian delegation headed by Vice-President for Science and Technology, Sorena Sattari. “Science enabled people to gain a deeper insight into pressing issues and challenges such as climate change, renewable energy, disaster risk reduction, and health policies, among others,” said Laszlo Lovasz, president of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences as well as the event, at the opening ceremony. Themed “The Enabling Power of Science,” it focuses on “a more responsible and ethical use of science in addressing environmental and health challenges.” Sponsored by the United Nations, the International Council for Science and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the forum concludes on Saturday, Borna News Agency reported.
