Nearly 75% of cancers are rooted in unhealthy food consumption. Chemicals such as benzene and nitrates are used as preservatives, but contain substances which cause food-borne bacterial illnesses. Also, aflatoxins produced by a mold that grows in nuts, seeds, and legumes, all play a significant role in causing various types of cancers. Although aflatoxins are known to cause cancer in animals, they are permissible in low levels because they are considered “unavoidable contaminants.”
Further, food packaging, which contains harmful chemicals can trigger cancerous cells, IRNA reported. Cancer is the third leading cause of death in the country.
