Reports on the country’s rainfall in the first three weeks of the new water year (12-month period starting from Oct. 1), indicate that 15 provinces had no precipitation at all during this period.
From the beginning of the water year, Isfahan, Alborz, Ilam, Bushehr, Chahar Mahal and Bakhtiari, Southern and Northern Khorasan, Khuzestan, Semnan, Fars, Qom, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahmad, Lorestan, Hormozgan and Yazd Provinces saw no rainfall, IRNA reported.
During the same period, Tehran Province received only 3 mm and Kerman Province 1 mm of rain. Gilan Province with 190 mm registered the highest precipitation among the provinces. The province also recorded an increase by 109% in rainfall compared with the same period in the previous water year.
Also Mazandaran, Eastern Azarbaijan, Ardebil and Western Azarbaijan with recorded precipitation of 118 mm, 37 mm, 36 mm and 26 mm respectively registered satisfactory amount of rainfall in the three-week start to the current water year.
