The price of two thalassemia drugs including Deferoxamine and Desferal will cost less as the insurance coverage for the medicines, as per the MoU signed between the FDA and insurance organizations, is respectively 100% and 98%.
“So thalassemic patients shouldn’t pay for Deferoxamine and only pay 2% of the total cost for Desferal , which would be less than $ 1,” ISNA reported, quoting Dr. Mehdi Pirsalehi, director general for monitoring medicines at the Food and Drugs Organization.
