The Family Doctor Plan that started in remote areas will become a nationwide project, said deputy health minister Ali Akbar Sayyari.
“It will extend to suburban towns in the first phase and later to small cities with populations less than 50,000, before covering the entire country,” he said at a meeting of health deputy ministers in Tabriz Province, ILNA reported. The program came into force in July in deprived regions and rural tribal areas with populations below 20,000 covering nearly 28 million people, following an agreement between the Health Ministry and Iran Health Insurance Organization last year (ended March 20). The Health Ministry is also trying to outsource health and medical services.
