A databank on illiterate population has been established, said Ali Baqerzadeh, head of the Literacy Movement Organization. “Having access to information on the illiterate sections will help address the challenges. The databank will help in identification and decision-making regarding the target group,” he said, ISNA reported. Eight million of the country’s 80 million population aged 10-49 is either uneducated or undereducated, while 10 million aged six and over in both urban and rural areas are absolutely illiterate. Since 2011, one million have benefited through the LMO’s literacy programs, said Baqerzadeh. The databank website will soon be announced.
