Nearly 26.5% of Iranian women suffer from neuropsychiatric disorder (average for both men and women is 23.6%), said deputy minister of health Dr Ali Akbar Sayyari, at a joint meeting of the Health Ministry and the Vice-Presidency for Women and Family Affairs, on Tuesday. He also pointed to cancers and cardiovascular diseases as leading causes of deaths among Iranian women. “In 2011, 43% of deaths among women were due to cardiovascular diseases and 23.7% due to cancer,” ISNA reported. “Around 49% of women over the age of 30 are overweight or obese,” he added.
