The safe drinking water protocol will be implemented in 11 provinces this year (started March 21) in line with World Health Organization guidelines, said Khosrow Sadeghniat, head of the Health Ministry’s Center for Environmental Health. The protocol includes implementing quality control measures in bottled water supply and distribution channels and preventing water contamination of water resources and reservoirs, with the cooperation of the ministries of energy, interior and health, local municipalities and the Department of Environment, reports IRNA. The strategies will be worked out in close cooperation with academics and research centers to improve water supply quality to protect public health and prevent diseases.
