Ultimatum on Semisolid Edible Oils

An ultimatum has been given to edible oil manufacturers to stop production of semisolid edible oils by the end of next year (starts March 21), said Zahra Abdollahi, head of Nutrition Improvement Department at the Health Ministry, Semisolid oils should be replaced by vegetable oil with trans fatty acids below 2%, reports IRNA.  She also pointed to the plan to reduce sugar, salt and oil in food products which is currently under consideration by the Health Ministry’s National Standard Organization, Food and Drug Administration and Nutrition Improvement Department. The reduction should be gradual so that it does not affect the taste and flavor of food products.
