The number of fire stations in Tehran increased to 116 from 103 in April last year, said Saeed Sharifzadeh, director of Tehran’s Fire Stations and Safety Services Organization. “The average response time of fire departments is 4-6 minutes globally. The additional fire stations will reduce response time to between 4.20 and 4.30 minutes in the capital,” he said, ISNA reported. Noting that the number will further increase to 118 in the coming months, he said the organization has several functions in addition to responding to a fire emergency, including regular safety inspection of shopping centers, storage rooms, schools, sports complexes and cinema theaters.
