The Forests, Range and Watershed Management Organization plans to provide nomads, tribal people and villagers with solar water heaters, according to its director general, Bahman Afrasiabi.

About 600,000 tons of twigs and shrubs from the national forests are burnt annually by this population for domestic use.  “Our policies seek people’s participation in preserving the environment and providing them solar water heaters could help,” he said, ISNA reported.

The organization’s policies offer a number of incentives to environmental activists, he added.
