The number of Iranian pilgrims killed in the crane crash at Mecca’s Grand Mosque on Friday has risen to eight, according to the public relations office of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization.
The death toll rose from one on the fateful day, with 11 Iranians reported missing, to six the next day and now to eight, ILNA reported.
At least 107 people of different nationalities were killed and 238 injured, in the September 11 incident.
So far there is no word on the public inquiry into the cause of the incident as promised by the Saudi king, while officials have defended safety measures at the construction site.
