All students will get up to 50% off on metro and bus fares in the new academic year, said Abolfazl Ghana’ati, member of the Transportation Committee of Tehran.
The Tehran City Council has approved the ruling and students in schools and universities will pay half-rate on city buses and the subway, reports ISNA.
In addition, nearly 60,000 students with special needs will be provided free transport by the municipalities.
The number of buses and metro coaches has also increased to prepare the city for the busy October month following schools reopening on September 23, and the measures “will likely see a decline in the traffic congestion by 20%,” Ghana’ati added.
