The Research and Education Planning Organization affiliated to the Education Ministry plans to connect one million school students to the Roshd Network (the national school network system). “Last year, we connected 600,000 students and they were all given a personalized student email,” said head of the organization, Bahram Mohammadian. The plan to provide all schools in the country with Internet “requires a major infrastructural overhaul,” he said. The ‘electronic backpack’ scheme aimed at providing online textbooks for all students will be completed once all schools are connected to the Roshd Network. According to available data, 50,000 schools are connected to the Internet, ISNA reported.
