Iranian Death Toll Rises in Crane Crash

The number of Iranian pilgrims killed in the crane crash at Mecca’s Grand Mosque on Friday rose to six, said deputy head of Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization Hamid Mohammadi.

“Caravan managers have also reported six missing Iranians,” he said, ILNA reported. At least 107 people of different nationalities died and 238 were injured, including 32 Iranians, in the September 11 mishap.

Saudi Arabia’s king on Saturday promised an inquiry into the tragedy that occurred as hundreds of thousands of pilgrims gathered from all over the world for the annual hajj pilgrimage which is to start around September 22.
