The annual birth rate of the boy child has seen an increase in the country in recent years. The gender ratio of births was 105.8 boys per 100 girls in the first five months of the current Iranian year (started March 21), said Ali Akbar Mahzoun, head of the Information and Statistics Department of the National Organization for Civil Registration. In the first five months, 337,865 male births and 319,137 female births were registered, ISNA quoted him as saying.
