On the eve of the new school year (begins September 23), all students will receive free medical checkups under a project called ‘The Gift of September’ that started on September 6, in cooperation with the Iranian Red Crescent Society.
“The project, implemented with the help of volunteer doctors will run till October 22,” said Farahnaz Rafe, IRCS deputy for volunteer affairs.
Students in quake-stricken areas will be given higher priority and more than 70,000 packages containing school materials, health and hygiene products, clothing, and food will be given to those in need, reports ILNA.
The project is conducted annually with the help and support of patrons and donors and aims “to provide a kinder approach towards students who may lose the chance to study due to financial constraints.”
