Iran’s membership in the Austrian-based International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) has been approved and five post-doctoral students are expected to start studies at the institute, said Dr. Nosratollah Zargham, Head of Iran National Science Foundation (INSF).

As the 25th member, Iran now has access to IIASA facilities. A number of joint research groups have been formed at INFS and IIASA in areas of water, energy, environment, climate change and global warming, Mehr News Agency reported.

IIASA is an international research organization which conducts interdisciplinary scientific studies on environmental, economic, technological and social issues in the context of human dimensions of global change.  Its mission is “to provide insights and guidance to policymakers worldwide by finding solutions to global and universal problems through applied systems analysis in order to improve human and social wellbeing and to protect the environment.”
