Treating Damaged Bones

Researchers at Tehran University of Medical Sciences have produced a type of nanocomposite to be used in treating damaged bones. Laboratory studies show that the nanocomposite can prevent bacterial growth and help in the recovery of the damaged bone, according to the Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council. Recovery of the damaged bone tissue and side effects of surgery, including infection in the broken area are among the main concerns in orthopedic surgeries. Therefore, the results of this study are particularly important to develop antibacterial composites to eliminate such complications, reports Mehr News Agency.
