The largest cleanroom in the country was inaugurated in the presence of Health Minister Hassan Ghazizadeh Hashemi and Vice-President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari, on Sunday.

Located at the research center of Tehran’s Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, the cleanroom will provide space for mass production of biological products and industrial medicine.

“We hope such facilities in research centers will help meet the demands of the healthcare system,” said university chancellor Ali Asghar Peyvandi.

A cleanroom is an environment used in manufacturing or scientific research with a low level of environment pollutants such as dust, airborne microbes, aerosol particles, and chemical vapors.

Currently, Interferon Gamma 1B and Guanosine Tri-Phosphate (GTP) are mass produced at the research center. “Peptide-based drugs will be produced soon.”
