More than 1,200 civil projects aimed at assisting the needy were launched by Imam Khomeini Relief Committee across the country during Government Week (August 23-29).

“The projects include healthcare centers, dormitories and housing for the underprivileged in urban and rural areas,” said Qader Samadi, director of the IKRC’s housing and civil projects, Borna News Agency reported.

Over $16.6 million (557 billion rials) has been allocated to the projects that have started in 17 provinces, with the biggest share for Sistan-Baluchestan. Government Week is observed annually in memory of Mohammad-Ali Rajai (Iran’s president from August 2 to 30,1981) and Mohammad Javad Bahonar (prime minister from August 4 to 30, 1981), and is an opportunity to familiarize people with state projects and accomplishments in civil, social, economic, and cultural areas.
