In the past two years, 10 million people were brought under the cover of free health insurance by the Iran Health Insurance Organization, said Qolamhosein Abbas-Pasha, IHIO’s deputy for management and development. Insurance was provided to those who lacked any type of health insurance, such as women heads of households, unemployed and poor and disabled people, IRNA reported. Health insurance will be extended to more people in the near future, “as all citizens should have equal access to health care,” he said.
