A relatively strong quake measuring 4.6 degrees on the Richter scale rattled the cities of Firouzkouh and Damavand in Tehran Province on Tuesday.
The tremors were also felt in some parts of Tehran.
The quake struck at 10:06 pm local time (17:36 GMT). There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to property, IRNA reported.
The epicenter of the quake was 24 km from Firouzkouh, at a depth of 10 km.
“Although Tehran is 100 km from the quake’s epicenter, people living on third and higher floors in the city felt the tremors,” said Mehdi Zare, seismologist.
