More than 55% of registered cancer medications are available in Iran, says Shokoufeh Nikfar, research and development deputy at the Food and Drug Administration.
“According to global statistics, availability of 18-22% of registered drugs in each medical category indicates a satisfactory status. In Iran, over 55% of cancer drugs registered globally are available, an excellent rate indeed,” she said at a seminar on ‘Fair Access to New Treatments for All’, reports the Persian language daily ‘Iran’.
The availability of cancer drugs is better than drugs for other diseases. For instance, only 20% of medicines for diabetes are available.
