Out of 5.2 million rural housing units in the country more than 1.7 million have been renovated since 2005. “If over 200,000 rural houses are renovated and reconstructed annually, all rural housing will become quake resistant over a period of time,” IRNA quoted Azizollah Mahdian, deputy at the Housing Foundation as saying.
