The DNA database has started collecting DNA samples of those with criminal records in several provinces. DNA information of 25,000 hardcore criminals will be registered by mid-March 2016, said Ahmad Shojaei, head of Iranian Legal Medicine. The database is compiled through samples of human saliva, hair or dried blood, collected from a crime scene or suspects. “The database has proved valuable in the fight against crime,” he said quoted by Mehr News Agency. In the later phases, DNA samples of lawmakers, ministers, reporters and the general public will be included in the database.
