Constant use of digital technologies such as smartphones and tablets by 90% of children before entering their teen years is disconcerting, says Saeed Pourimani, head of Qazvin Digital Center.

“The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has proscribed use of such digital devices before the age of two, but a large number of children are using them around the critical learning age period,” he said, IRNA reported.

He warned that excessive exposure to such technologies will cause various problems among children including addiction, childhood obesity, seclusion from society, and weak eyesight, and urged parents to control the amount of time their children spend on the devices.

“Unhealthy content can also cause rage, negative emotions, and isolation from peers which can cause social ills.”
