Iran ranked sixth at the 2015 International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Top Iranian students participating in the event with teams from 75 other countries won two gold, one silver and one bronze medal, Mehr News Agency reported.

Ali Behjati and Ali Haghani won gold, Amir-Keivan Mohtashami, silver and Peyman Jabbarzadeh-Ganji, the bronze medal.

South Korea came first followed by China, Russia, the United States and Japan.

The 27th International Olympiad in Informatics opened on July 26 and concluded on August 2.  It is an annual event for secondary school students. The first IOI was held in 1989 in Pravetz, Bulgaria.

The IOI is one of the most prestigious computer science competitions in the world, with UNESCO and International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) as patrons.
