Some medicines in the country can be abused for production of illegal industrial drugs. They include ‘pseudoephedrine’, ‘tramadol’ and ‘diphenoxylate’, said Parviz Afshar, deputy director general of the Office to Curb Drug Demand at the Drug Control Headquarters. Therefore, several restrictions have been imposed on the supply of the drugs, ISNA quoted him as saying. “Pseudoephedrine which was earlier used to treat common cold symptoms has been replaced by safer alternatives. Most physicians don’t prescribe the medicine for cold anymore,” he added.
