The 8th International Congress of World Muslim Medics opened on Thursday in Mashhad, capital of Khorasan Razavi Province.

Nearly 300 Shi’ite doctors from around the world are participating. “We are pleased that the holy city of Mashhad was selected to host the congress and the Mashhad Municipality has made great efforts to organize the event,” said Ali Akbar Velayati, advisor to the Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and a member of the Supreme Council of the Ahlul Bayt World Assembly, at the opening ceremony. The congress concludes on August 10.

Scientific meetings including seminars, lectures and poster presentation, workshops, interaction with scholars and brain-storming sessions, are among the activities planned, besides sightseeing, visiting the holy shrine of Imam Reza (PBUH), the eighth imam of Shias, and other historical places, reports Mehr News Agency.
