The Natural Hazards Risk Atlas of Iran has been prepared and will be used to work out disaster mitigation strategies, said Morteza Akbarpour, deputy head of Iran’s National Disaster Management Organization.

“Natural calamities can occur anywhere in the world, and Iran is one of the most vulnerable countries prone to more than 33 types of crises,” he said, addressing reporters at a workshop on crisis management attended by 180 executive officers from six western provinces in Hamedan Province, reports IRNA. “We must move in the direction of developed countries and take advantage of existing capacities and facilities to create reinforced structures and ensure that most resourceful crisis management is in place,” he said.
