Handover of government pharmacies to the private sector has been effective under the May 2014 Health Reform Plan, said Rasoul Dinarvand, head of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Under the process many government hospitals have transferred the management of pharmacies to the private sector. To ensure compliance with the rules, the FDA monitors all pharmacies and keeps a close watch on medical prices, he said, ISNA reports. “The issue of violating price structure of medicines has nothing to do with the nature of the pharmacies (public or private). However, the implementation of reforms and strict vigil by the Health Ministry has resulted in boosting public satisfaction with pharmaceutical services,” he said.
