Children of irresponsible and negligent parents are now subject to adoption by a new law of the State Welfare Organization, said Parvin Ya’ghubi, a senior SWO official in Ilam Province. “Under the previous law, orphans with no paternal grandparents were put up for adoption, but the new law binds all children of parental neglect,” she said, Borna News Agency reported.Financial capability, moral values and five years of married life are among the SWO requirements for a couple to be eligible for adoption.
