Iran Free of Avian Flu

Iran is free of avian influenza and in the coming days, “we will announce our status of being free of the disease to the World Organization for Animal Health,” said head of Iran Veterinary Organization Mehdi Khalaj.  Avian flu affected 33 countries in 2015, ISNA quoted him as saying.  On June 8, several cases of the disease were reported in Mazandaran Province and the IVO began its preventive measures to fight the spread of the disease; the country is now clear of the disease, he added.
