Nearly 1,000 people affected by the recent floods in Alborz Province will each get $5,300 as home repair loans, said Heidar Hamedi, provincial deputy of Reconstruction and Rural Housing. Funds that were allocated for renovation of distressed urban areas in the province have been diverted for flood-affected families to help them rebuild their damaged homes, Alef News Agency quoted him as saying. The flooding, triggered by torrential rains following a freak thunderstorm last Sunday, left a trail of damage to people’s homes, farms, gardens, bridges and roads in the region.
