Cholera Cases Increase in South Sudan

The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned of increasing number of cholera cases in the South Sudan, calling for prevention measures.

Over 1,200 cases have been reported in Juba county, where the seat of national government is based and in Bor county of Jonglei state, i24news reported. On South Sudan, the WHO says that more than 1,210 cholera cases, including 39 deaths, have been reported – mostly in Juba and Bor.In response to the outbreak, health partners have set up cholera treatment centers and oral rehydration points in both counties. They are conducting cholera prevention activities, including hygiene promotion and improvement of access to safe drinking water.
