The first Maritime Student Festival is to be held mid-October. A joint effort by the Education Ministry and the Presidential Office of Science and Technology, the festival covers several fields including painting, photography, short story, cartoon drawing, research and scientific articles, short films, blogs and floating remote control models, IRNA reports. The festival website cites the purpose of the event as “introducing the significance of the seas to our country, transforming maritime matters into prominent subjects in school activities, navigating elite students towards marine sciences and majors, and guiding them through encouraging a career in marine activities.”
