The government allocated $343 million to implement projects aimed at reviving Lake Urumia at its recent Cabinet meeting. The funds are to be used for better water management, reducing water use by farmers, and environmental restoration, ISNA quoted Mohammad Baqer Nobakht, government spokesperson, as saying. Lake Urumia is a salt lake in northwestern Iran. In recent years, the lake has faced the danger of drying up due to consecutive years of drought.
