Nearly 173 scientists from Iranian universities and research institutes have been placed among the world’s top one percent highly-cited scientists, according to the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC). The ISC after conducting studies identified the 173 Iranian researchers, Khabaronline reported. At present, 50.8% of the scientists are engaged in fundamental sciences, 21.4% in medical sciences, 21% in technical and engineering sciences, 6.4% in agricultural sciences and 0.6% in social sciences.
