Avian flu that was recently contracted by a number of backyard poultry in Mazandaran Province was successfully contained due to timely measures taken by the Center for Contagious Diseases affiliated to the Health Ministry. “The flu was detected in a number of domestic birds in the province, but Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences took measures to contain it by taking timely action,” said Mahmoud Nabavi, deputy head of the center.
Recent reports show no signs of the disease among birds or humans in the country, and the diseased poultry was wiped out, IRNA reported.
Nabavi advised people to pay attention to hygiene while handling live poultry and “ensure that the meat is fully done while cooking or grilling chicken.”
