The director of the National Council for the Elderly says that 20% of elderly people don’t have any health insurance while 70% lack supplemental insurance. Sadegh Rosatami told ISNA that the high cost of coverage “is one reason why insurance companies don’t insure the elderly.” Rostami added that with the Strategic Plan for the Elderly now underway, various issues such as their health care, social security, livelihood and fitness will be addressed.
