The Food and Drug Administration and the Institute of Standards and Industrial Research of Iran, have declared olive pomace oil non-edible and harmful to health, said Hedayat Hoseini, general director of food, beverages, cosmetics products at the FDA.  The purchase and sale of the product is banned and FDA inspectors are in charge of removing the illegal product from the market, Khabaronline quoted him as saying.  Olive pomace oil is extracted from the olive pulp residue that remains after the process of oil extraction is mechanically completed. Approximately 5-8% of the oil remains in the pulp, which is extracted with the help of harmful solvents.
