Morphine, heroin and cigarette conjugate vaccines developed by Iranian scientists at the Pasteur Institute of Iran are awaiting approval for mass production by the Health Ministry, said deputy secretary general of Iran Drug Control Headquarters Alireza Jazini. “The patenting and testing processes are through and the vaccines have proved effective in tests on animals and humans,” he was quoted by ISNA as saying, on the sidelines of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on Saturday. A conjugate vaccine attenuates opium/ tobacco-induced behavior reducing the force, effect and value of such substances in the body.Once the permit is obtained the vaccines will be available to the public at reasonable prices.
