Drivers who do not observe rules on traffic lanes or drive hazardously will be fined $13 (400,000 rial), said Col. Morad Moradi, technical deputy of Tehran Traffic Police. “A major traffic problem in the metropolis is lack of respect for right-of-way to cars and pedestrians while changing lanes ; therefore the ‘White Line Penalty’ was introduced to help observe this traffic rule,” he was quoted as saying by 7-Sobh Persian daily. Moradi also said infrastructural work, including road surface marking was undertaken.
