The Innovation and Prosperity Fund has allocated $2.8 million (92 billion rials) to a knowledge-based project to develop technology and increase production of herbal medicine in the country. The project will be undertaken by the Barij Essence Company, IRNA reports. There are currently 30 companies producing natural herbal remedies in Iran according to the World Health Organization and all are required to have the same quality standards as pharmaceutical drugs.
