Text Walking Lane for Mobile Geeks

The Belgian city of Antwerp has given cellphone addicts their own lanes, so they can walk, talk and text with their heads down without troubling regular walkers.

Clearly marked ‘Text Walking Lane’ in white paint down a number of busy pedestrian shopping streets, the narrow corridors should stop smart phone geeks from bothering regular residents and tourists. They will just walk into each other instead, CNET reported.

There was a similar project in Washington DC last July when National Geographic introduced separate lanes for cellphone and non-cellphone using pedestrians at a busy block in the city’s 18th Street.
