Due to the high costs of inpatient care for hospitals, insurance companies, and patients, the novel idea of home-based intensive care services will be available by the end of spring (ends June 20). The services will reduce treatment costs by 1/3, and in addition, “patients can benefit from home treatment in the family environment,” said Dr. Morad Esmail Zali, director of treatment at the Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research (ACECR) of Tehran Medical University, quoted by IRNA. The treatment protocols for home-based Intensive Care Units (ICU) have been drafted and are being legally reviewed.
