A division for Emergency Social Services (ESS) to help people affected by an emergency or disaster will start operating by mid-June, said Tehran Governor Isa Farhadi. “Almost all the necessary arrangements for establishing the division have been made, and 80 state bodies have introduced their representatives to the governorate,” he said, quoted by ILNA.
ESS prepares teams in local municipalities for contingency planning to provide temporary relief to individuals and families in the event of disasters. It is designed to serve individuals affected by major disasters or emergencies, but it will also attend to smaller emergencies such as a single house fire.
