In the past 1.5 years, contributions from benefactors saw the completion of 2,000 school buildings in the country, said Mohammadreza Hafezi, head of the School Charity Community of Iran.

Nearly 6,800 state-run schools were left unfinished in the previous government’s tenure. “In line with the Majlis bill, when a benefactor contributes to the fulfillment of 50% of a state-run project, their name is put on the commemorative plaque,” he said, IRNA reported. The School Charity Community of Iran, one of the largest NGOs with over 80,000 patrons, was founded with the objective of building new schools, renovation of old ones, and providing equipment for existing schools.
