The first phase of the Fashafuyeh Penitentiary, 24 km southwest of Tehran, for convicts imprisoned under Article 24 (drug-related offenses) will be officially opened in mid-June, said Sohrab Soleimani, head of Tehran Province Prisons. "The penitentiary with a capacity to host 2,500 individuals, will provide jobs to inmates in agricultural fields in the vicinity, if sufficient funds are allocated by the government," he said, IRNA reported.
